Hello, I’m Sonny. For nearly three decades, I’ve dedicated myself to teaching and mentoring creatives who’ve gone on to thrive in diverse industries—from leading audio at Microsoft and developing games at EA Sports, to creating YouTube personalities and even coaching an athlete who played alongside Sidney Crosby.
In the visual world, my photography background spans touring with bands, documenting post-conflict zones, and capturing the untouched corners of our planet. My primary genre is street photography, and I often blend this with architectural subjects to create layered, story-rich compositions. I hold a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, and I treat photography not just as image-making, but as a meaningful connection between place, time, and story.
My teaching style is fun, flexible, and focused on discovery. I use everything from antique lenses to toy cameras and modern mirrorless gear to challenge the idea that your tools define your talent. In my workshops, you’ll experiment with techniques that focus on storytelling, rhythm, composition, and emotional truth—no matter the camera in your hand.
In Charleston, I combine my passion for history with creative coaching. This city’s architectural layers offer not just backdrops, but stories—and I’m here to help you see them, frame them, and feel them. Whether we’re walking on ballast stone alleys or photographing ironwork by gaslight, our goal is the same: learn to see beauty...differently.
Let’s unlock the magic of photography—together.
