Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Charleston .

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Charleston Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

It was great. The instructor was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I'll be back.

My daughter and I both went to the class. had a great time. Kem was so much fun and patient with all of us. There were 4 in the class which was perfect for all of us to take photos, ask questions, model, and get help as needed. We have already scheduled another class.
Kem is AMAZING! Learned so much! It was a great class! Would highly recommended attending ANY class he may host!!!
I enjoyed spending the morning with April. Despite the uncooperative weather, she kept it light and collaborative. She gave me some good coach points and offered her perspective on things.

Coincidentally, this scene appeared spontaneously as I was walking back to my car from a Charleston Photography Group class on outdoor portraiture in July. I bought a glass of lemonade from this kind adorable little girl and gave her a big tip if I could take her photo. (Mom was there and approved too). I quickly sat in the middle of Battery Street to get the low angle and shallow depth of field with my long lens. I followed up with the mom and sent them a file.

I spotted this King Parrot feather in my yard after a night of showers. The water droplets only added to its beauty.

I was sitting on my back porch enjoying the day when I saw this beauty checking out my flowers. I went inside to grab my camera, fully expecting it to be gone by the time I returned. I was able to get several great shots while it almost seemed to pose for me.

I took my son to see an old friend because he wanted to play with wire wool and try and get some "cool" pictures. We also took some led masks with us too. Was an eventful night and I'm sure somewhere along the line will see the rest of the results here

The beautiful and delicate light pink azalea is my moms favorite of all the azalea colors . It was taken at Charles Towne Landing which holds significant sentimental value to me. I have many fond memories of going there with my grandma and grandad who lived in Hanahan my whole life. I ALWAYS think of them when I visit Charles Towne Landing, it is a very special place to me and I miss them both dearly! I had intentions to frame this one for my mom but now I'm not sure I ever did.

If you've ever visited the Angel Oak, then you'll know that it looks a bit different in person. I unapologetically, used photoshop to try and recreate what once was, or at least what I imagined. After a casual conversation, with a wonderful family, I was able to include a lone figure to provide scale. This is a truly magnificent tree. - Joel

I live near the water. As I worked in my garden, this eagle landed near the water's edge. It stayed long enough for me to grab my good old Cannon Rebel and I was able to capture several images with my 200mm lens. The bird seemed to have no fear of me. I moved slowly peacefully towards it and I ended up about 25' away. I did not want to scare it, so I only captured a few images. When I had finished, the bird remained here for quite some time. It was an amazing experience. I did crop the image to
